About the Managing Director

Gordon Collie

Gordon has worked as a professional rural journalist in Queensland for the past 25 years with The Courier-Mail and Queensland Country Life.

He has travelled extensively throughout the State including three years based in Townsville as the northern representative for Queensland Country Life. He has written about all aspects of rural life, agri-business and rural politics.

Gordon has a wide practical experience of rural affairs and is respected at all levels of the community for his dedication to promoting the advancement of primary industry.
His contribution has been formally recognised with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Queensland Farmers Federation.

He is the only person to have won the prestigious Dalgety Award for Excellence in Rural Journalism in Queensland three times.

A long standing supporter of the Queensland Rural Press Club, Gordon was instrumental in reviving the Club as an effective rural agribusiness network in early 2000 and served as President from 2001 to 2003. He has also served on the executive of the Australian Council of Agricultural Journalists and has been elected President for 2005-06.

Gordon was an Australian delegate to the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists World Congress in The Netherlands in 2003.

He reported widely from South East Asia after winning an Australian Journalists Association ASEAN scholarship which enabled him to travel in Indonesia, Singapore, mainland Malaysia and Borneo, Thailand and the Philippines.

Gordon also had extensive writing experience in his native New Zealand where he began his journalism career after leaving the family farm in Southland.
